Mariners find their offense in time to score 9th-inning comeback win over Rays
Marlette, pinch hitting for the Pulaski Mariners for only the second time in the Appalachian League season, came in with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning against the visiting Princeton Rays on Thursday and ripped reliever Alex Keudell’s first pitch into the corner down the left field line for a double that scored the tying run.
Felipe Burin, also pinch hitting, followed with a bash to right that was mishandled by right fielder Willie Argo as the winning run scored in a 5-4 thriller in front of 699 Calfee Park customers.
