Montgomery County places fifth in World Series

The Montgomery County All-Stars represented Virginia at the Dixie Angels X-play Softball World Series in Troy, Ala., last week and walked away with a fifth-place finish.
The girls went 2-2 in the tournament, picking up victories over Georgia and Tennessee, as well as losses to host Troy and Mississippi.
The team finished their season having won the District 6 championship, as well as being the first Montgomery County Parks and Recreation team to win the Virginia state championship and advance to the World Series.
