Virginia Tech’s first football came of the season is just around the corner, and fans can get a sneak peek of the team in action.

The Tech football program will be holding the first of two open scrimmages today inside Lane Stadium.

A team practice begins at 4 p.m., with the scrimmage starting after 4:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to attend, but are allowed to sit in the West stands only. Also, videotaping is strictly prohibited. Fans can enter through gates 4 and 5 only. No fans will be allowed on the field following the scrimmage. Concession stands and the bookstore souvenir shop will be open on the West side only.

A second scrimmage, also open to the public, will take place Wednesday.

Tech, ranked 20th in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, takes on Georgia Tech Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. at Lane Stadium. Tickets are still available due to Georgia Tech returning some of its allotment.
