BLACKSBURG — The course at the Blacksburg Country Club hosted several firefighters and community members for the Blacksburg Fire Auxiliary’s third-annual golf tournament Monday.

Funds from the seven-team, 28-player tournament will go toward helping the Blacksburg Fire Auxiliary provide services to Blacksburg firefighters throughout the year.

The auxiliary is made up of the spouses of firefighters and offers support to the firefighters by providing meals to firefighters and emergency personnel during emergencies and departmental training sessions.

Blacksburg Fire Auxiliary President Veronica Spradlin said the auxiliary is happy to host a golf tournament for the firefighters to enjoy.

The tournament, Spradlin said, is one of the group’s two major fundraisers each year. The other major fundraiser is just weeks away when the auxiliary hosts its Nov. 10 Holiday vendor sale at Blacksburg Fire Department Station 3.
