Blue Demons defeat Franklin County with overtime field goal

The drive back from last year’s Group AA Division 4 state championship game in Lynchburg was a long one for Christiansburg’s Jake Hamley.
The return trip Friday night from Rocky Mount? Not so much.
Hamley was riding on air as the junior place-kicker booted a 27-yard field goal on Christiansburg’s first play of overtime to give the unbeaten Blue Demons a 31-28 nondistrict victory over Franklin County.
