Hokies’ defense spends practice on drills aimed at fundamentals

As players rotated between various tackling drills Tuesday, each of the Hokies’ defensive coaches watched intently, offering encouragement and pointing out technique errors, all with a vigor.

After what North Carolina did to Virginia Tech’s once-proud defense on Saturday, gouging it for 537 total yards and 339 on the ground, the Hokies needed some kind of jolt.
