Blacksburg’s Katie Turk wins girls golf regional
RINER – Blacksburg’s Katie Turk shot a 6-over-par 78 at Auburn Hills Golf Club on Monday to win the Western Region title and qualify for next week’s VHSL Girls Open golf championship.
Turk will be joined in the state tournament by Cave Spring’s Megan Board, who shot a 79 to finish as the runner-up, along with Floyd County’s Morgan Cox (80) and Hidden Valley’s Kristen Hearp (80).
The state tournament, which will include players from five regions, will be played Oct. 22-23 at Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton.
