Auburn High kicker drilled shot at fresh start

Volodymir Phillips was practicing soccer at Auburn High School when Jack Turner first saw him.
Turner just had been hired last spring to take over the struggling Eagles football team. He was learning his way around school and trying to find some guys who wanted to play football.
That first time, Turner might have heard Phillips before he saw him. The report of the young man’s foot connecting with soccer ball was unforgettable.
