Hokies’ Ugoka injured

Posted December 31, 2012

Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Dennis Wolff said Monday that power forward Uju Ugoka missed Sunday’s win over Hampton with a knee injury, but he expects her to play Thursday at Virginia.

Wolff said Ugoka has a slight MCL sprain. She hurt her knee in a win over Wake Forest two weekends ago and aggravated the injury in last Friday’s win over North Carolina. A&T. She saw a doctor Sunday.

“She tweaked her MCL, so she’s day to day,” Wolff said. “We just thought we’d hold her out [Sunday]. I think she’ll be able to play on Thursday. She’s got to stay off it for a couple days and rehab a little bit. We thought playing her [Sunday] was going to aggravate it.”

Tech’s other standout, Monet Tellier, missed the first 12:18 of Sunday’s game for disciplinary reasons. She was late to a team practice Saturday, said Wolff.
