Pair of champions lead Hokies wrestlers
EVANSTON, Ill. — Virginia Tech’s Jarrod Garnett (125 pounds) and Nick Brascetta (149 pounds) won individual championships to lead the Hokies to a second place team finish at the Ken Craft Midlands Championship on Saturday night.
Tech compiled 97.5 points to finish behind champion Illinois (99.5) and ahead of third-place Oklahoma (85).
Brascetta was named Art Kraft Champion of Champions after his 3-1 victory over Binghamton’s Donnie Vinson, the No. 2 seed, in the 149-pound title match.
Garnett needed extra time to beat No. 4 seed Jesse Delgado of Illinois 5-1 in the 125-pound championship.
