Edge Poll: Which do you prefer, Twitter or Facebook?

By: Samantha Brooks, Roshni Lalchandani and Marissa Handerhan

We asked teens around the Roanoke Valley which social networking site they preferred: Twitter or Facebook. Here are some of their answers:

“I would say Facebook because it’s more hands-on. I can upload pictures, and I don’t know how Twitter works.” — Maya Sinclair, 14, freshman, William Byrd High School

“I like Twitter better because you can post whenever you want to, and it is less drama.” — Sara Worley, 16, junior, Lord Botetourt High School

“I prefer Twitter over Facebook because Facebook is filled with ‘like if you do this, like if you do that.’ Not to mention it’s packed with annoying younger kids, and it’s messy. On Twitter, you can choose to not follow people who follow you so you can have more control over what you’re reading. It’s also a lot nicer and neater.” — Joey d’Alelio, 14, freshman, Cave Spring High School

“I prefer Twitter because you don’t have to write as much and no one can really reply to you. You can say whatever you want to say.” — Safa Eltaib, 15, sophomore, Cave Spring High School

“Facebook is better because I don’t really understand tweets, hash-tags and other razimatazz.” — Kyle Sumpter, 16, junior, Lord Botetourt High School

“Facebook because sharing photos is easier.” — Ashley Chang, 14, freshman, Hidden Valley High School

“I like Facebook better because I feel that it is easier to use and easier to keep up with my close friends.” — Brianna Palazzola, 15, sophomore, Lord Botetourt High School

“Facebook because it’s better for communication and easy to use.” — Kelsey Jones, junior, Hidden Valley High School

“Lately I’ve been liking Twitter because it’s really entertaining. You can follow really funny jokes and people.” — Anjali Patel, junior, Hidden Valley High School

“Facebook because it’s more accessible.” — Katherine Yang, junior, Hidden Valley High School

“Facebook because it’s more interesting to look at.” — Tara Loughery, junior, Hidden Valley High School

“I like Facebook better because it has better opportunities to connect.” — Laura Sowder, junior, Hidden Valley High School
