Wine, Whiskers and Song
Looking for a family-friendly event that includes your well-behaved pooch?
Try the Wine, Whiskers and Song festival at Blue Ridge Vineyard in Eagle Rock on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 6 p.m.
The event is a fundraiser for the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
Leashed dogs who handle themselves well in a crowd are welcome to join their families for an afternoon of wine tasting (no vino for the dogs!) and a concert by local blues favorite Fat Daddy. Star City Coffee and Bonsack-area restaurant Teaberry's will be selling food and beverages.
The $10 admission fee for tasters includes a souvenir wine glass. Admission for non-tasters is $8.
Remember to bring lawn chairs for you along with a jug of water and a dish for your dog. Since the cool air of fall has not yet found its way to the valley, you might also want to bring a towel to soak in water, providing relief for over-heated pooches.
A blanket or pillow may help your pet relax enough to enjoy the concert, or a late afternoon nap.

Lindsey : →http://blogs.roanoke.com/fridgemagnet/Hey Nona, welcome to the wild, wonderful world of blogging! My cat, Ned, ate something out of the bathroom wastebasket yesterday morning while I was getting ready for work. I didn't even see what it was, but I suspect it was plastic because it made a crunching sound. I dug around in his mouth but came up with only cat spit. Don't ya hate it when that happens?

NonaOh, I really hate it when one of my furry family members decides that random pieces of trash are really tasty treats. And yelling "No!" as they munch on an inedible must translate to them as "Chew Faster!" As someone who has spent time excavating the mouths of adventurous animal gourmets, I feel ya!
