Open house

The Humane Society of Montgomery County is hosting its annual open house this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

The shelter is located at 1183 Flanagan Drive in Christiansburg.

Surfing around the shelter's Web site, I found a touching story about Joey, a 12-year-old dog who has been at the shelter since 2004. Three years and still waiting for a home. I am sure he must think of the shelter as his home now.

But wouldn't it be great if this little guy could find a family for Christmas? If you or someone you know would be able to care for and love a mature dog like Joey, stop in for a visit on Saturday.
