January 18, 2008Flyball, anyone?Check out this cool graphic about flyball, a relay sport for dogs. From what I can glean from a little Internet research, there is a flyball tournament held in Blacksburg each summer, and there are local teams that compete. I am dying to know more and would love to attend a practice and the actual tournament this summer. Any of you readers have any scoop on the local flyball scene?

Laura Green : →http://www.flyballdogs.com/headsortailsYes, there is Flyball in the Roanoke and Blacksburg area. There are two teams. I am captain of Heads or Tails Flyball Club in Roanoke. We hold beginner and intermediate classes on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm at the Pooch Professor's training building (www.roanokedogtrainer.com). The classes are walk-ins, come as you are able, progress at your own speed. We train using positive methods only - bring your dog's favorite toy or treats. 10$ a class, first class free.
Come check us and this wonderful sport out!

Laura Green : →http://www.flyballdogs.com/headsortailsThere will be a Flyball tournament held August 9 & 10, 2008 in Blacksburg.
The tournament is held indoors at the Blacksburg Community Center on Patrick Henry Drive in Blacksburg, Va. 8-4pm both days. Spectators (two and four-legged) are welcome. If you bring your dog please make sure you use a non-retractable leash and your dog is friendly and sociable.
This is a great opportunity to see the sport live and truly get a taste for all the "controlled chaos" which is Flyball.
Three local teams will be represented: Heads or Tails (from Roanoke and Lynchburg), New River Express (in Blacksburg), and New River Rapids (from Blacksburg).
