Dexter

Hey blog readers:

My family suffered a loss this morning. Our beloved dog Dexter, the first dog my husband and I adopted from Star City Greyhound Adoptions, passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm. The brain injury happened yesterday afternoon and we had no warning that anything was wrong. Despite a night in critical care, the doctor could not bring our sweet boy back to us.

We are heartbroken.

Dexter, or as we often called him Dexter Doggy Dogg or Triple D, was an awesome dog, and we felt so lucky to have him in our family and forever in our hearts.

I will write more about this when I can think more clearly, but for now this blog and the column are going to take a break.

Thanks so much for all the support.

I am so sorry to hear that Nona. All of us pet lovers know what you are going through right now. It sounds like Dexter had a wonderful life after you rescued him so hopefully you can take comfort in that knowledge. Nothing will make you feel better right now but all of us bloggers are with you and Phil in spirit.

Nona, I am so sorry about Dexter. He was a wonderful dog. You and Phil gave him a home filled with love and attention, and I’m sure that in the short time you had with him, he was loved much more than many dogs are in an entire lifetime. Now he is chasing a ball in Doggie Heaven!

I am so sorry to hear about your Dexter. We lost our first rescue dog, Brownie, 2 years ago. It was one of the saddest things I have ever dealt with. Despite having a wonderful dog now, we think of her and talk about her every day. I know Dexter was so lucky to have you. I am sure Dexter is blessd in heaven. After all, it wouldn’t be heaven without him. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry about Dexter- I lost a dog to the same thing last summer. He was literally here one second and gone the next. Take care of yourself, and hug Stormy and Coral close.

Nona & Phil – My deepest condolences. Dexter surely knew he won the “Greyhound Lottery” when he found your family. Sending much love your way (and doggie kisses to Coral and Stormy from Rudy).

Nona, please know that we have you in our thoughts and prayers. Losing any family pet is hard, and just losing our Asher (Greyhound) last week is still weighing heavy on our hearts. You gave Dexter a loving and caring home and now he runs with the others who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Run free and hard beloved friend and companion.

Nona, My heart goes out to you and your family. You gave Dexter a wonderful life that many greyhounds never have the opportunity to enjoy. I understand completely your grief and my thoughts and sympathy are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of your dear sweet Dexter. Hold all your wonderful memories of him in your heart and look forward to seeing him again at the Rainbow Bridge where you will be reunited – never again to be parted. (At least that is my belief with my wonderful Furkids.)
