Jasper’s journey

I got an e-mail last week from Todd Ruebold in Minneapolis.  He has started a blog about his dog Jasper’s battle with cancer.

Jasper is a beloved member of Ruebold and his wife Veronika’s family. He is also living with a terminal disease.

While this is indeed a sad topic, I have enjoyed what Ruebold has posted so far.

In his e-mail, Ruebold said he wanted to reach out to other pet parents as a way to share this experience and perhaps create an online community of people dealing with this issue of cancer and it’s treatments in the veterinary world.

Veterinarians are better at detecting exactly what’s wrong and have more options to offer their patients.  More pets are being treated for cancer than ever before.

So check out Jasper’s journey. I can’t promise it won’t bring a tear, but so far it’s also been quite uplifting.

And Jasper is a handsome, brave fellow.  I think he deserves a few new fans.

  1. This is a good blog and I wish I had found something like this when I found out my cat had cancer. I think discussing what you are going through is therapy, especially with others that are experiencing the same thing. While my story unfortunately did not have a fairy tale ending I know there are many animal cancer survivors out there. I’m glad to see Jasper is doing well considering his circumstances and I wish him lots of love for the rest of his time here on Earth.
