Cats! And lots of them

Sometimes I worry that people will read my blog and get the impression that all cats are tyrants with little regard for their human servants.

Oh Captain, My Captain

And we all know that people do not need to know this until AFTER they adopt a cat.

It’s so much more fun to find out first hand than to hear it from others.

If your little empire needs a benevolent dictator, you might be able to find a match this weekend at Grand Home Furnishings outlet in Westlake.

The furniture store will host an kitty adoption and fundraising event tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Barn Cat Buddies.

Besides feline leaders in search of a new crew to boss around, there will be lots of other things to see and do.

There will be face painting for kids, a Cat Lover’s gift basket and prizes from local merchants, including a full day of free boating courtesy of Bay Roc Marina.

If, however, you take the cat on the boat, be sure to get a tiny lifejacket.  For real.  Like this one.

Monday’s Happy Wag column is all about cats and how, frankly, there are just too many of them.  Shelters are overflowing with felines.  Clearly, all these kitties needs homes, but it’s also a great idea to prevent future litters so this cycle gets broken.

More about that on Monday. Everyone have a great weekend!

I don’t really think there’s ever anything wrong with having a few benevolent dictators in one’s life, so long as they are the furry, long-tailed variety. We seem to have established a decent symbiosis with ours, or at least perhaps that’s what they want us to think. Hmm…
