A brief sabbatical

"Now exactly how will this "sabbatical" thing affect ME??"

Hey blog readers: I will be taking a brief sabbatical from the Happy Wag column and blog.

I am having my right knee replaced in 10 days and I need to concentrate on pre-surgical conditioning, surgery, recovery and rehab.

Once I am back home (and getting cuddle therapy from my critters) I am sure I will have lots of fodder for the blog and will be working on a column or two.

Expect the Happy Wag to be back in business with daily blog entries and regular columns — and some cool new features to pets.roanoke.com —  by mid-summer.

Best of luck, Nona. My critters (kitties Julio and Rose) send purrs and wish you a speedy and cuddle-filled recovery!

Good luck on the surgery. Don’t hit any critters with your crutches, even though you might want to. Going to miss your blog. Follow doctor’s orders and get healed quick.

Best of luck, Nona. Anyone taking over pet news while you are out? Dr. Marty Becker is in Newport News, VA. for a book signing on June 4 on his new book, “Your Cat: The Owner’s Manual.” He’s the vet from Good Morning America and Dr. Oz and author of more than 20 pet books. Anyone else I should forward the information to?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Nona.

Godspeed and quick healing! We will patiently await your return. You are well worth it. We all know you will have lots of love in recovery.

Nothing like warm fuzzy love to make a body feel better! I’ve missed your daily blogs lately and will look forward to when you resume the Wag. Your knee surgery will make life so much better for you, and you’ll be able to take long walks with the “kids” soon.

Good luck! As a person with a “bionic” knee, I would suggest keeping a light pillow over your surgical site for at least a week while in bed. I started doing this after 18 pound PJ jumped onto my knee wound while I was sleeping. Needless to say, it HURT! The pain can be bad but it gets better and imo, was worth it. You’ll have some extra time for hugs though.

I hope all goes well with your surgery and recovery. I know several folks that have had knee replacements and were extremely pleased with the results. I’m sure your Furkids will keep you entertained and/or frazzled while you recover at home. Good luck!!

Best of luck in your recuperation from surgery! I too have had a couple of friends with this surgery, and they were very pleased. You will be in our prayers and look forward to all of your great stories when you are able.

Learned on Dogs 101 this a.m. that the greyhound is the only dog mentioned in the Bible. Sure enough, I found this in King James version, Proverbs 30:
“There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going: A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; a greyhound; a he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.”
    Sending positive thoughts!
