Check It Out

Looking for something to do this holiday weekend? See our picks for some fun local events.

Here comes Santa Claws

I know all I have my mind on for the next few days is cramming five days of work into a three-day week so I can enjoy lots of food and football on Thursday.

But as soon as the turkey leftovers are cooling in the fridge, it’s time to start planning for Christmas. And for my mutt-ley crew, that includes photos with Santa at PetSmart.

The chubby dude in the red suit will be posing for pictures with pooches and kitties every weekend at the Valley View store starting Dec. 1. Kris Kringle will be ready to smile for the camera from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday, so pencil in a date and time that works best for you.

Star City Greyhound Adoptions will be hosting the first two weekends in December; the Roanoke Valley SPCA will host the third weekend.

Proceeds from the sale of the Santa photos go directly to the hosting rescue group.
