Top ten pet names for 2012

Apparently dogs and cats have something in common after all. According to Veterniary Pet Insurance, Bella is the most popular name for female kitties and canines in 2012. It was also the third most popular name for birds and other types of pets.

Are there really that many “Twilight” fans out there and did they all get pets this year?

None of my pets’ names (Thai, Coral, Stormy and Melissa) made the list, although we do tend to call Stormy “Buddy” enough that he might respond to it.

Any of your pets’ names make the list? How did you choose your pets’ names?

I wonder how many of those names are always on the top 10 list. We had a dog named Molly and a cat named Smokey growing up, and I have friends with a Lucy and a Bella.

Currently, a border collie named Maggie (#8) and a cat named Chloe (#3). Chloe’s mother Olivia was originally called Oliver (#4), until it was apparent that he was a she. A few decades ago, we had a beagle named Daisy (#7).

I also have dogs at home named Bailey and Lucy and a husband, I love just as much, named Max.
Everybody gets called Buddy at some time during the day in my house.

My cat (or should I say my husband’s girlfriend) is called lil bit. She was soo tiny when I got her she was just a lil bit of a kitty. and she was so small that she couldn’t handle capital letters. I know I’m weird. Have had ferrets named Mitzi, Max, Bonnie & Clyde, Levon and I can’t remember the rest. The first dog we ever had was named Andy after my grandfather so they would let us keep him. And my son was named Andy after my grandfather not the dog. LOL
