About Nona

Hello to all you Web-surfing pet lovers!

I’m Nona Nelson, newsroom manager of The Roanoke Times and a pet mom to four pets. Starting this week, you can look to this blog, The Happy Wag, for pet-related chat and news. Think of this as a community forum for critter-lovers.

I will share the anecdotes about the four-leggers in my family and you can share your stories about your furry and feathered friends.

I am no animal behavior expert, and certainly not a vet. I am just a devoted pet parent who thinks it takes a village to raise a healthy and happy pet. What works for you might work for me, and vice versa. Sharing success and failures could help us all work through those pet peeves.

I will also pass on information about new pet products, services in the area, pet-friendly events and other tidbits useful to companion animals and the people who love and care for them.

So post a question or a comment, share a helpful hint and join the discussion.
