Due to the weather, some customers may experience late delivery of The Roanoke Times. We apologize for the delay.
OK, I know what it looks like, that we have built a shrine to Stormy in our living room, and clearly Thai does not approve, but there’s a story behind this.
A few months ago, we took Stormy, a dog we adopted from the Roanoke Valley SPCA, to have his photo taken for the Puppy Love Ball, which was held last Saturday night at the Hotel Roanoke. Local photographers donated their time to take photos of adopted pets and that was used as artwork at the silent auction at the fundraiser. Needless to say, we had to buy the prints (there were two, you can only see one in this photo.)
I had an upset stomach and slight headache early this morning (due to a long afternoon and evening of adult beverages, amazing food and a loud concert on Saturday) and I found myself with restless energy in addition to raging heartburn.
So I made a photo collage of my pets. Because, apparently, I needed a creative outlet.
Barn Cat Buddies and Angels of Assissi will have adoptable pets at the store from noon until 3 p.m.
Volunteers will also be selling raffle tickets for a crock pot and a coffee lover’s basket — both staples at my humble abode.
P.S. Diane Novak of Barn Cat Buddies/Angels posted this photo on my Facebook wall last week.
Go ahead and try not to say, “Awwww….”
You can’t do it. Neither could I.
Let’s go with that one.
This is Abby. Do you see Abby? She kind of blends in with the Halloween blanket and pillow on her pet mom Sandy’s couch.
Apparently getting her to pause long enough among her dopplegangers to get a photo was a feat all in itself. After all, she does have Chloe the Kitten to chase around.
I hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween last night. Phil stayed in the family room with our three dogs and Thai spent the evening in another room behind a closed door so I didn’t have to worry about any critters darting out or being scared of the little candy beggars on our porch.
Stormy barked like a hell hound every time the door bell rang, which was pretty much the best Halloween sound effect EVER!
How did your pets handle the trick-or-treat parade?
