McDonnell seeks tobacco funds to lure biotech company
Gov. Bob McDonnell paid an impromptu visit to the executive committee of the state’s tobacco commission Monday to make a pitch for grant funding to help Virginia lure a biotechnology company.
The governor gave the impression that he’s going all out to lure a biotechnology company to the state after a visit to California’s Silicon Valley.
“This is a particular opportunity that uses some very interesting technology that will be very helpful across the scale in the tobacco region to provide jobs for agriculture but also to provide some very significant and very high paying jobs in the biotech area,” McDonnell said.
