NCTC presents Tech & Toast on children’s health

The NewVa Corridor Technology Council’s next Tech & Toast event will focus on the work of the Pediatric Medical Device Institute and ways to work with PMDI to improve children’s health. Here is a press release from NCTC:

Technology & Toast Invitation

“Innovating for Childrens Health:Is There A Role For You?”

Facilitated by: Andre A Muelenaer, Jr, MD
Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer
Pediatric Medical Device Institute

April 21, 2011 (7:15AM-9:00AM)

Holiday Inn Airport, Roanoke, VA Directions

The PMDI is on a mission to improve pediatric medicine. It aims to produce new clinical tools by pairing medical practitioners with technology innovators to address the unmet needs of pediatric medicine. This kind of innovation reaches across many disciplines including biological sciences, software, materials, electronics, and others. Is there an opportunity for your company? Among his many roles, Dr. Muelenaer is the co-founder of the PMDI along with Dr. Al Wicks from VT Mechanical Engineering, and he will facilitate presentations by entrepreneurs, students, and small businesses from our region who are engaged in the development and commercialization of medical devices for children.

Discussion Points and Take-Aways:
  1. Learn about the needs of the pediatrics industry and why they are not being met.
  2. Hear how PMDI is going about identifying these needs and connecting with innovators who can create solutions for them.
  3. Learn about opportunities to work with the PMDI and/or collaborate on new solutions for pediatric medicine.
Reservations are $20 per person for NCTC members and $30 for non-members. Price includes breakfast. Registrations paid at the door are $30 regardless of membership status. If you need to cancel a reservation, please do so at least 48 hours before the event to avoid being charged. For information about sponsoring future NCTC events, call (540)443-9232.
