Free homebuyer education classes offered in the New River Valley
Community Housing Partners is offering a free homebuyer education class to all residents in the New River Valley. The two-night class will cover personal finance, home loans, mortgages and more.
Here’s the press release from Community Housing Partners.
Christiansburg, Va. – The prospect of buying a home can be overwhelming to many, but free homebuyer education classes offered by Christiansburg-based Community Housing Partners (CHP) can provide New River Valley residents with the knowledge and confidence needed to purchase a home.
CHP, a nonprofit community development corporation, has been assisting families with their housing needs for over 35 years. “Our homeownership team is committed to helping mod¬est- to moderate-income customers realize the dream of purchasing their own home,” said Ryan Stenger, CHP’s homeownership specialist, “Individuals may be intimidated by the home buying process but our in-depth education and training prepares consumers — emotionally and financially — for the commitment and investment of buying a home, generally the largest purchase they will ever make.”
The two-night homebuyer education classes include information on credit and personal finance, budgeting, qualifying for a home loan, negotiating a purchase, applying for a mortgage, and loan closing. “CHP’s goal is to teach our clients how to make wise consumer choices and become successful long-term owners. Helping individuals realize the American dream of homeownership is financially and emotionally empowering and also contributes to the vitality of communities,” stated Stenger.
“Now is the time to start thinking about purchasing a home. Mortgage interest rates are hovering around record lows, home prices have declined and actually overcorrected in many areas, inventory is plentiful and sellers are motivated. Our classes can help prospective buyers become mortgage-ready so that they can take advantage of the current ‘buyer’s market,’” added Stenger.
Free to the public, CHP’s homebuyer education classes are held at 448 Depot Street, Christiansburg, Virginia on the following dates:
Jan 24 and 26, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Feb 21 and 23, 5:30pm – 8:30pm
