Scottsdale, Ariz. (May 1, 2012) – Massage Envy, the pioneer and national leader of professional, convenient and affordable massage and spa services, announced today plans to expand into Roanoke, Virginia. Massage Envy is seeking franchisees in the area to develop at least two new clinics. The company currently has more than 23 locations in Virginia.

To fuel its expansion into Roanoke, Massage Envy is actively searching for qualified franchisees and will host a franchising seminar outlining growth opportunities on Thursday, May 17 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Metro!, 14 East Campbell Avenue in Downtown Roanoke. To register for the event and learn more, please contact Massage Envy Regional Developer Kent Swarts at (804) 432-1264 or kswarts@massageenvy.com.
Today, there are more than 765 Massage Envy and Massage Envy Spa locations in 44 states, making it the largest system of franchised massage clinics in the industry with a membership base of more than 1.1 million individuals. Massage Envy has plans to significantly expand its presence over the next several years to capitalize on the $13 billion-a-year massage therapy industry.

“Massage Envy is seeking qualified franchisee candidates in Roanoke to be a part of our growth plan that includes expanding in existing markets, as well as opening in new markets,” said Swarts. “As we continue to expand Massage Envy’s reach across the state, we look forward to offering even more consumers affordable and accessible massage therapy and skincare treatments.”

Since innovation has been at the heart of the company since its inception in 2002 as Massage Envy, the company launched the Massage Envy Spa concept in 2007 to build upon consumer demand for affordable access to healthy skincare treatments. Through a strategic partnership with global skincare leader Murad®,Massage Envy Spa customers benefit from facials and skincare treatments designed by one of the world’s foremost leaders in skin health.

“Since our initial launch, we have changed the public’s perception of the benefits of massage and spa therapy,” added Swarts. “By making these services more accessible and available to consumers across the country, the public now recognizes the importance of visiting Massage Envy to maintain a balanced lifestyle focused on wellness.”

The company’s growth is based on a strategic expansion plan that includes identifying the right franchisee operator to build its business. Qualified franchisee candidates should have business sales or management experience, but do not necessarily need to have a massage therapy or spa operations background. They also should possess a minimum net worth of $500,000 and liquid assets of at least $150,000. Massage Envy Spa franchisees can expect their initial investment to range from approximately $352,000 –$569,000, including the franchisee fee.

Massage Envy is the SuperCuts of massage. They pay entry-level and poorly skilled therapists crap wages and charge just enough less than independent therapists to put them out of business. It’s lose-lose for everyone but the owner.
