BLACKSBURG, Va., Oct. 11, 2012 – Virginia Tech’s Personal Touch Catering has been awarded the National Association of College and University Food Service (NACUFS) 2012 Loyal E. Horton Grand Prize in the Catering Online Menu category.

Personal Touch Catering’s online menu received a gold medal in the large school division this spring and was then showcased at the national NACUFS convention in July, where it was judged against gold medal winners from both the small and medium school divisions and ultimately named the top online catering menu.

Personal Touch Catering is part of the Division of Student Affairs and Dining Services at Virginia Tech.

“The design and launch of our award-winning website provides us a great opportunity to share the great service and creativity Personal Touch Catering does and can provide to the campus community,” said Ted Faulkner, director of dining services.

Personal Touch Catering’s new website launched early in fall 2011. The new design targets university clientele as well as outside clients holding an event on campus. The website showcases Personal Touch Catering’s menus complete with pictures and pricing, as well as event locations, rental equipment information, upcoming featured events, and descriptions of past-catered affairs.

The online menu category was judged on creativity in style and design, variety of menu options and preparation methods, consideration of special dietary needs, sustainability efforts, business strategy, and individuality.

“Our website has really allowed our past and potential clients to get an accurate snapshot of who we are and what we offer,” said Suzanne Quesenberry, assistant director for Personal Touch Catering. “We are very proud of our day-to-day undertakings and now have a beautiful website to display our accomplishments.”

Virginia Tech’s Dining Services is a nationally recognized dining program that is ranked as having the third best college food in the nation by the Princeton Review. Dining Services serves more than 6.3 million meals per year to more than 19,000 meal plan holders.
The Division of Student Affairs at Virginia Tech encompasses departments dedicated to providing a rich co-curricular experience and essential student services. Virtually every aspect of a student’s life outside the classroom is represented through the division’s departments.
