Kohl’s Department Store has made a donation to Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital. Through the Kohl’s Cares, CCCH received $36,252 to support the Kohl’s Infant Safe Sleep program. This program educates families and caregivers  on proper safe sleep and proper safe sleep environments for infants. Funds came from money collected at Kohl’s Roanoke and Lynchburg stores.

ROANOKE, Va. (Oct. 17, 2011) – Kohl’s Department Store, through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program, has donated $36,252 to Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital (CCCH). The donations were collected from Kohl’s stores located in Roanoke and Lynchburg.

The grant will support a new program for the community – Kohl’s Infant Safe Sleep (KISS). The new program aims to better educate parents/caregivers of families in need on proper safe sleep and proper safe sleep environments for infants.

“The number one killer of infants is being placed in an unsafe sleep environment,” said Alice Ackerman, chair and chief pediatric officer at CCCH. “Kohl’s is a dedicated supporter of children’s health across the country and we are excited to have them working with us locally in educating families about safe sleep practices. Through education and support, we hope to make a difference.”

Kohl’s commitment to CCCH is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one.
