Here is the press release from Member One.

December 25, 2012- Roanoke, Va. – Member One recently held three different fundraisers to provide support to the Virginia Law Enforcement Program, VALEAP for short. Through an employee cookout, auction and denim day, Member One raised $3,176.34 for the program.

VALEAP provides law enforcement officers who have been involved in critical incidents with the tools needed to work through the mental anguish experienced from the trauma they have witnessed. James Fazio, AVP Property Administration and retired Roanoke Police Lieutenant said, “The program allows officers to come together and ‘normalize’ their feelings to the horrible situations they have experienced by sharing their stories, and listening to others that have been involved in similar incidents.”

Two Blacksburg chaplains founded VALEAP shortly after the Virginia Tech massacre in 2007 – it operates solely off of donations. Blacksburg Police Lieutenant, Kit Cummings said Member One’s donation will go a long way- assisting Virginia law enforcers in need. He also said, “With current events and in todays world, law enforcers experience traumatic events. Their agencies may not be able to assist them in obtaining timely assistance with the stress they experience and that is where VALEAP can help.”

James Fazio has had the pleasure of assisting with VALEAP programs and also said, “I enjoy the opportunity to watch the transformation of the officers attending the three day training session. Through speaking with fellow officers who have experienced critical incidents, it provides them with the ability to realize that their mental reactions are normal to abnormal situations.”
