Neathawk Dubuque & Packett wins 5 Virginia Public Relations Awards

Neathawk Dubuque & Packett took home five awards from the Virginia Public Relations Awards. The advertising firm won two Capital Awards and three Commonwealth Awards.

Chateau Morrisette wins international wine awards

Floyd County’s Chateau Morrisette Winery has won several silver awards at the 2013 Tasters Guild International Wine competition. Winning wines are the 2011 Chardonnay, 2011 Chambourcin, 2008 Merlot and 2011 Vidal Blanc.

Roanoke Dollar General to hold career fair Saturday

The Dollar General store at 2312 Orange Ave. will hold a career fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is part of the company’s effort to hire 10,000 new employees. Company representatives will be on site to discuss opportunities and receive resumes from job seekers.

Tuck Chiropractic Clinic wins awards at Fork and Cork Festival

Tuck Chiropractic Clinic earned several awards by participating in The Can Do! food drive held during the Fork and Cork Festival in Blacksburg April 27. The clinic collected 1,107 cans of food and constructed an Etch-A-Sketch for the competition. Awards won by the staff include  Most Cans Collected, Most Nutritious, People’s Champion and Jury’s Champion.

Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. and Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon at the official Grand Opening at their new location on Electric Road.

Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc. and Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon at the official Grand Opening at their new location on Electric Road.

Primary Residential Mortgage has relocated its Roanoke office. The office moved from Peters Creek Road to Electric Road in Roanoke. A grand opening and ribbon cutting was held Thursday.

Primary made the decision to move based on the company’s continued growth, according to a press release from the mortgage company.

Blue Ridge Beverage honored with Bill Coors Quality Award

Area beer distributor Blue Ridge Beverage has been awarded the Bill Coors Quality Award by MillerCoors.  The award was given to the company at the MillerCoors Distributor Convention  held last month.

Truck drivers notch wins at state driving championship, prepare for national contest

Several area truck drivers will head to a national driving competition in Utah this summer after winning their respective categories of the 62nd Annual Virginia Truck Driving Championships.

The championship, held April 19 and 20 at the Lee-Hi Travel Plaza in Lexington, gave drivers a chance to show off their safe and fancy driving skills. Official rules on the Virginia Trucking Association’s website say drivers were judged on “professional appearance, knowledge of regulations, and vehicle and driving skills.” Part of the competition included a written test.

Participants had to live in Virginia and not have had any accidents in the year before the competition.

The Virginia Trucking Association, which hosts the trucking competition, patterns the event after the American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships, state association spokeswoman Robyn Bolton said in a news release.

The nine first-place winners will get to compete at the national level in Salt Lake City, Utah, in late August.
