In the market for a new home? Don’t miss the Open House guide in the paper Saturday and Sunday.

Ready to win $$$? Look for your Egg Hunt Contest sticky note in Sunday’s paper

egghunt_300Didn’t get enough money back on your taxes? It’s that time of year, and it’s also time for some egg hunting. For the third year in a row, we will give away $1,500 in Visa gift cards with the Egg Hunt Contest.

How does it work?

1. On Sunday, March 24, hunt for a sticky note somewhere in your paper. It will have a scratch-off area which will reveal a code.

2. Enter that code at roanoke.com/contests by noon on Friday, March 29.

3. We will randomly select six winning codes and award five $100 Visa gift cards and one $1,000 Visa gift card. The five $100 winning codes will publish in the paper on Sunday, March 31. The $1,000 winning code will publish in the paper on Monday, April 1.

Salem VA Credit Union is sponsoring the contest for the second year. Last year, we had more than 9,000 entries, so don’t miss your chance to win. (Those odds are better than a lottery scratch-off! — and your chances of winning increase with the more papers you purchase and the more codes you enter.)

Hold on to your sticky note, and read all the rules here (PDF).

Happy hunting!

My egg ticket has six digits, but the website only lets you enter a 5-digit code, so I just dropped the first “0″. Was that right?

my egg had 6 digits also. do i drop the first 0?

You were correct in dropping the first zero in your code. We have updated the contest page to allow for six digits. If you entered without the first zero, it’s fine — there’s no need to re-enter.

    Thanks and good luck!
