The number of conflicts between cyclists and pedestrians is growing as the popularity of the Roanoke River Greenway grows, according to Dan Casey’s most recent column.
How might we help matters?
Some suggestions bubbling up so far:
Should we stripe the entire greenway, reminding users to keep to the right, as Casey mentions in the column?
Separate bikers and walkers, similar to the Virginia Beach boardwalk?
Set speed limits for bikers — or ban cyclists entirely?
Or is this really about following common-sense rules/etiquette?
Please add your ideas and greenway experiences:
BTW, Casey shares these somewhat tongue-in-cheek rules for greenway etiquette, submitted by Chris Berry, president of the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club.
