For most of us, June/July 2012 was the first time we heard the word “derecho.”
Trees were downed, power lines mangled — and worst of all, many of us lost power for days during sweltering heat.
This Saturday is the first anniversary of the wind storm, which we’ll mark with a front-page recap by weather columnist Kevin Myatt.
In the meantime, we’d like to hear your memories and lessons learned, serious and lighthearted.
How did you get through the power outage?
What acts of kindness did you witness?
Did you make any changes as a result (stock your emergency supplies, buy a generator, trim trees, etc.) — and have those changes helped with our recent storms?
Please post your comments below … depending on what you share, we may contact you for possible inclusion in our Saturday story. You can find more comments on our Facebook post.
