Flash Mob at Valley View Mall
This looked like a lot of fun to participate in, but I think it was a lot of fun to shoot too.
Flash Mob America, a company based in Los Angeles, came to Roanoke to organize a flash mob, which is a “spontaneous” mass choreographed event in a public place.
This flash mob took place at Valley View Mall on Saturday. Here are a few pictures. Feel free to comment!

Flash mob participants dance to a choreographed number in the food court at Valley View Mall Saturday. Dressed in white t-shirts and tank tops, 200 to 250 people participated in the flash mob that was organized by Flash Mob America, a company based out of Los Angeles.

Viki Quinn of Roanoke County, center, and Liz Mortlock of Roanoke, right, dance to a choreographed number in the food court at Valley View Mall Saturday. "I like to dance," Mortlock said. "And I like to do things in the community."

Spectators gathered along the balcony of the second floor of Valley View Mall to watch the flash mob.

Love it. Hate that I missed it. I’m hoping it will be on youtube soon.
Ugh, is it really that hard to abide by Journalism 101 (Who, What, When, Where and How)? You go through all this trouble of telling us there’s a flash mob, but don’t tell us WHAT song they performed. FAIL, Roanoke Times!
Once again for southside VA, where are the african americans that participated in this mob. Is this the usual for Roanoke. Blacks not admitted.
Michael,
I’m sorry the information on the song wasn’t posted with the caption. That was definitely my mistake.
Roanoke flash mobbers danced to an original song that was produced by David Kater, written by Rhett Fisher and co-written by David Kater. Linzi Whittmack was the lead vocalist, with additional vocals by Rhett Fisher.

Thanks to Cox for sponsoring this! It was alot of fun! The information to participate was in the local newspaper the week before the event, EVERYONE who wanted to join in was welcomed regardless of color. All you had to do was sign up, show up and dance.
Nice photos Rebecca!:) That was such a really fun event! I hope there will be more opportunities in Roanoke for group dance events. There are lots of people who love to dance that aren’t pro’s. I think things like this bring the community together more.
Thanks for the nice comment, Viki! I’m glad I got a chance to meet you at the flash mob, and I’m glad you had fun at the event!
Keep on writing and chuging away!
