Outtake: Portrait of Herschel Sizemore

There are so many photos that photographers take that never get published, and this blog is an outlet for those photos.

I wanted to put one on the blog that Kyle Green shot earlier this month of a man named Herschel Sizemore.  The warm colors and quiet mood of this portrait just really stood out to me, and I thought this photo deserved to be seen.

Herschel Sizemore of Roanoke, one of the country’s great mandolin players, just recovered from treatment for cancer of the tonsil. His wife is still in treatment for breast cancer, but is almost through with that. A big benefit show was hosted for them on Feb. 19 at the Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre with Del McCoury, the Seldom Scene, Sammy Shelor and many more playing. KYLE GREEN | The Roanoke Times
