Tractor Day

Heith Clements, 16, of Burnt Chimney, sits on his Kubota 2100 tractor during Franklin County High School's annual Tractor Day Thursday. Students drove their tractors to school in a parade, parked them behind the school and used them to educate other students about the work they do on farms.

Sage Whitney, 16, of Hardy, center, sits atop her John Deere 5403 tractor during Franklin County High School's annual Tractor Day Thursday. Though males still outnumber females in agriculture in Virginia, the number of women in the field is growing, said teacher Heather McAndrew.
