Another triple-digit day in Roanoke

I just got word from the National Weather Service in Blacksburg that today’s high temperature for Roanoke was 101 degrees. That makes today the hottest day in 19 years, since it hit 102 on Aug. 17, 1988.

The high occurred during the last hour. It is still 100 at Roanoke at 5 p.m.

Blacksburg hit 94 for the second consecutive day, and, again, set a record high for the date.
