Kevin/Griggsy – Thank You for your responses it is appreciated. Although not in the 80′s like I had hoped, That forcast is not bad considering two years ago we took our daughters to Disney and the High was in the 50′s a couple of days. Thank You guys again!!!

Cburg Mountain, I defer to Kevin. Thanks for including me. The one thing I just noticed is that your arrival date falls during the middle of 8-14 day outlook (also the last day of the 6-10, but let’s forget about that). The 8-14 day (Kevin alertly posted a comment at 4:26PM with a links to both of the CPC outlooks) for some reason shows enhanced chances of coastal Georgia and most of Florida being cooler than normal. My guess is that another low is forecasted to sit off the Atlantic coast of Florida. Being inland might be better than being on the Atlantic coast of the Sunshine State. But the panhandle would have been better, if that outlook verifies.

Kelly, thanks again for the report from “Virginia’s ice box,” as I think Mr. Myatt once called it. The frost on windshields must have been pretty thick. Or do you (or other folks there) cover them up the night before? (this assumes that some vehicles sit outside …) I have used a car or windshield cover in the past, and they can work great, PROVIDED that they and the windshield are completely dry, and that no precip falls overnight. Once made the mistake of placing a damp cover on the windshield, and I didn’t go anywhere until I had started the car and allowed the defroster to warm things up. Still had an evil mess when I was finally able to remove it. It is funny now … but wasn’t then.

C’burg Mountain: Looks like the most active weather will stay north of Florida during that time frame, but it could pull through a couple of fronts with some showers. Would say you would see 50s lows/70 highs most days, perhaps cooling to 40s lows/60s highs on a day or two within that period. You’re probably back home before the core of any extremely cold air can fully set up that would make even Florida unseasonably cold.

CPC 8-14-day map looks warm — but compared to 6-10, you can see the warmth being squashed south and the white “equal chances” zone pushing southward. The beginning of changes — not the end of them.

Dec. 8 looks to be about the beginning of the changes. Don’t think we flip a switch then, but the pattern will be changing to something with storminess, and will be stair-stepping us toward colder.

Kevin or Mr. Griggs – My family and I are a little over a week away from our trip to Central Florida. (Arrive Dec. 9, Depart Dec. 15) Was just wanting to see if you had some idea what we may expect that week in the way of temps. Thank You for your time! This morning I have heard several people mention that their power briefly went out this morning in Roanoke and that some people saw a flash of light in the sky. On the radio they said that this was related to a solar flare but I don’t see anything about it on any news websites. Does anyone know anything about this?
