Some rain today that comes without a name

Lots of rain on radar shortly before 10 a.m.
A solid area or rain and thunderstorms is advancing into our region, covering most of Southwest Virginia west of Interstate 81 as of 10 a.m. ... and it has nothing to do with any tropical system named anything. This is old-fashioned rain along a cold front. Generally, the areas west of I-81 got less than those east of I-81 with Fay and Hanna, so it's good that they are seeing rain this morning. This will likely spread to cover much of the region today into tonight, and our region is still under a
slight risk of severe weather according to the
Storm Prediction Center, so a few gusty storms can't be ruled out. Breaks in the cloud allowing the sun to heat things up and destabilize the atmosphere would increase the severe thunderstorm risk. The cold front is likely to hang up just south of us during the next several days, and this may be a trigger for additional showers and thunderstorms the next several days. So we may get some drought help to build on the work done by Fay and Hanna.
Hurricane Ike, however, looks unlikely to be a major player in our weather, with its track now forecast to go into south Texas.
