Severe thunderstorm watch south of RoanokePosted Mar28, 2007 at 03:50 PMA severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 10 p.m. for most of Southwest and Southside Virginia to the south of Roanoke.(Click here for map and more information)The New River Valley is included in the northern edge of this watch, but the Roanoke Valley is just north. A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms with 3/4 inch or larger hail and 58 mph or greater winds.
