As of 1 p.m., the previous subtropical storm in the northeast Gulf of Mexico has obtained tropical characteristics and is known as Tropical Depression 10. Tropical storm warnings are in effect for much of the central Gulf coast, and the system is expected to become Tropical Storm Jerry by the evening.
