As of 11 p.m., the National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Depression Three off the South Carolina coast. It is expected to move northeastward just off the coast and strengthen into a tropical storm Saturday evening, possibly raking the Outer Banks of North Carolina on Sunday. Brandon R.I think the good news is that it shouldn't meander for too long which will inhibit it's ability to strengthen. Hopefully the forecast track is accurate and it can roll out to sea eventually.
We could probably use some of its rain around here though.

Kevin MyattInterior eastern North Carolina needs some rain for that huge peat wildfire (41,000-plus acres burned), but this may deliver only a glancing blow. Would be cautious if I were on Okracoke or Hatteras ... storm's path is reminsicent of Hurricane Alex in 2004, which rapidly developed and stranded folks on Okracoke thinking it would be a mild tropical storm.
