Here’s Tom Gerakaris with his giant, tournament-winning striper

Those of you who fished the Optimist Club’s tournament this weekend, or who saw my story in today’s Roanoke Times on the tournament, know that Tom Gerakaris won the striped bass division with this 42.88-pounder.

Gerakaris (right) kindly forwarded this shot of him and fishing buddy David “Mr. Boo” Williamson last night. Robert Baker was also on the boat when the big fish hit on Friday morning.

Great fish and I enjoyed how you guys seemed to have such a good time fishing together. No jealousy displayed and you showed what good sportsmanship means. Congratulations to all of you on the boat.

That’s a great striper for the HRBT, let alone SML! Great job. Mark, the website photos from the tourney article article, was the underwater shot of the bass a GoPro shot?

John — Re: the underwater shot. I have a GoPro, but I shot that with my Canon Powershot D10, a waterproof point-and-shoot camera. It’s my go-to fishing camera because it’s waterproof and shockproof, so I can beat it up in my canoe and boat.

Thanks for all the comments guys! A special thanks to Mr. Boo & Robert, a true team effort!
Mark, I appreciate you taking the time to post the photo!

    Happy fishing!

Not to hijack the thread, but have you tried the flat lens conversion for the gopro? You might be surprised at the results.
