Check It Out

Check out these three bucks on trailcam

A friend with a place in Alleghany County has several cameras out on his property, and he’s getting a great variety of wildlife, including bears, turkeys and, of course, deer.

This is a cool shot of three bucks early in antler development.

I had a basic how-to piece on trailcams on today’s Outdoors page in The Roanoke Times. It was aimed less at hardcore hunters (who have been using trailcams forĀ  years) and more at folks just looking to get into the cameras, whether for hunting scouting or just for fun.

Sure hope those bucks weren’t photographed on Kings Grant land, or else the camera might get confiscated.

Nice article. I hope some readers get “the bug” and purchase a game camera. Over the past 8 years, game cams have really added to my “hunting” season. I checked 5 cameras yesterday, and when I arrived home, I was like a kid on Christmas morning, and even though I had a lack of notable bucks, I still enjoy seeing some of the smaller bucks that will end up being one of the big boys in a few years. Also, checking game cams is an enjoyable experience for all in the family, my wife and son hike with me many times when I go out to check cameras, and what great exercise we get!

Looks like that mineral rock in the stump is doing its job drawing them in to the camera.
