Eric Sheetz scores on a quick evening hunt

Eric Sheetz wrote that he’s had trouble finding time to get in the woods this fall, though he did get out on a youth day hunt with his son, who tagged a whitetail.

Here’s his report on the hunt that produced this great buck:

“I went out in the wind and the rain on Thursday evening for a quick hunt after work and boy did it pay off.  With about fifteen minutes of good shooting light this eight-point offered me a perfect 15-yard shot.  This is probably my biggest bodied deer to date.”

I had to chuckle when I read the final words in his note: “Thanks for your work on the blog page.  It gives us guys at work something to look forward to during a day in the office. ”

In return, let me off my thanks to all of you who visit The Wild Life at work!

Nice buck, Eric! Mark, I have your blog bookmarked on my phone for easy access. The trophy shots are passed around and admired and your topics are often discussed while sitting around the lunchroom. So I second that. Thanks for your blog and keep up the good work! I work with Ralph, so we talk about him, too! Haha, in a good way.

Steve — I appreciate the bookmark! Don’t pass the phones around. Make all your friends bookmark the blog, too! Page views equal job security. Actually, let me rephrase that. Page views equal less job insecurity.

Thanks guys for the comments. I was able to weigh the deer before field dressing on official scales and it tipped 194#. The neck and chest on this deer appeared to be very large. I am looking forward to getting an age on the deer. I am guessing 3.5-4.5 range.
