Grayson Lindsey with a nice Albemarle County eight-pointer

Grayson Lindsey used his Mathews Switchback to kill this nice eight-pointer in Albemarle County on a recent hunt before he headed off to pre-school.

Sorry, just couldn’t resist on this one.

Grayson probably has a couple years before he’s ready to hit the woods, though I’m guessing he’s ready to have dad Brandon take him hunting.

Brandon is a regular here and it’s great to see him getting his season off to a good start. Here’s his story:

“I’m sending in this pic of an eight-point I connected with on Friday in Albemarle County. Here it is with my son Grayson. He is a certified HIT (Hunter In Training) and one of the requirements is his ability to be photographed with a dead deer in the back of a pick up….I think he
passes!!!

I figured most deer would be moving at night around this time, waiting for the rut to kick in. But Thursday night we had an absolute torrential downpour that lasted for a long time followed by strong wind, thunder and lighting. I figured this would disrupt the night activities and Friday morning would be a little more active. I was right. I saw five bucks total by 8:30 a.m.,  three of which I watched make scrapes in the vicinity.

This one made a scrape about 60 yards out and moved straight to my tree and I let an arrow fly at about 20 yards. This was an exciting hunt and fast paced! I was very blessed and thank the Lord for the opportunity.

What makes me even more excited is that one of those other bucks I saw was an absolute stud. He kept his distance and was moving quick!! Ill be back!!!”

One of my favorite deer I have ever seen on this blog is that buck called ” Gods Grace”….every time I see something from Brandon I have to go back and look at that deer and read the story.

That photo is precious ! Grayson definitely passes the “hero-shot” test! I predict we will see that boy frequently with his hands wrapped around some antler in the years ahead.

Congrats Brandon on your great Buck! sounds like a very exciting hunt…. that’s what it’s all about!
