Bobby Hogan’s big Botetourt eight-pointer

Bobby Hogan is one of the guys in my Botetourt County hunt club, where I spent  the better part of last week.

He is, shall we say, an enthusiastic hunter. In short, he’s about as crazy about chasing whitetails as anyone I know. He lives this stuff, and it usually pays off with a good buck or two every season.

He killed this one on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 13. The buck was on his way to check out a group of does and walked by Bobby’s stand at about 60 yards. Game over.

This buck weighed an impressive 155 pounds, field dressed. That’s a big deer for that property. The rack was about 18 inches wide.

Of course we couldn’t let Bobby get too cocky so we didn’t act too impressed. Our club’s comedian, James Quarles, had the best line when he touched the little “G4″ bump on the buck’s left main beam and deadpanned, while shaking his head, “Just think what he could have been next year.”

We started a tradition last year where anyone who kills a big buck has to pose for a hero shot in this T-shirt. I took some shots of Bobby without the Speedy shirt but there was no way one of those was going up here.

Awesome buck! I got my buck of a lifetime this year in Clarke county but dont see anyway of posting a picture. Live weight of 245 and dressed at 200. Initial groos score is 173 4/8 and 169 3/8. Love the shirt also!

Terry — I have to post them. Just email a picture to me and I’ll put it in the cue. Naturally, on the day I had to come back to work in the office — I was working in the field last week, ha ha! — one of my other buddies got to pose in the Speedy shirt this morning!

That’s a very fine Buck Bobby … and the shirt contrasts nicely behind the antlers making them stand out !

    Congratulations !
