Matt Wimmer with a heavy Bedford County seven-pointer

Matt Wimmer killed this great buck Saturday in Bedford County.  Here is what Wimmer had to write about the hunt:

“Based on the comments I’ve been reading over the past couple days and what I saw on Saturday, it seems like things are really starting to roll.  I shot the 7 pointer in the picture (the buck looks more like a 5 pt in the “Hero Shot” so I attached a close up for the guys who will say “…it looks like a 5 pt. to me”) at 10:30 a.m. while he was bumping a doe down the ridge; he was the third buck that I had seen over the span of two hours that was harassing a doe, and I saw two other young bucks walking single file with their noses in the air along the upwind side of a laurel thicket. (One was an 8 pointer that I couldn’t get a shot on).

I know this buck is fairly young, but because of work demands (I only have Saturdays & Thanksgiving to hunt this year) and the property I was hunting, he was a shooter in my book.”
That’s a shooter in most books, Matt. Congrats!
