Gage Nicholson gets his first deer

Jason Nicholson has shown up on the Wild Life in the past in some good hero shots. None make him happier than this one.

Here’s his story:

“On November 21st I left work early and picked up my 6-year-old boy Gage and headed to Grayson County to get in an evening hunt. We were heading to the ground blind that is setup 75yds off a 2-acre winter wheat, oats, rye & clover food plot. I looked over the hill down into the food plot and saw a 5 point buck by himself and it was GO time.

I setup the shooting tripod (second picture) and got Gage into position with the Remington 6mm that my dad had bought me when I was 10. I told Gage to put the cross hairs right behind the shoulder, take his time and squeeze the trigger whenever he was ready.

My heart was about to beat out of my chest as I had a flashback of when I shot my first deer when I was 10 and my Dad told me the exact same words I was telling my son.

Then, KAAABAAAAAAM and the buck dropped in his tracks! Gage screamed “ I HIT IT, I HIT IT”! I picked up my son hugging him and telling him how proud I was of him.

It will be a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life and hopefully I have created a lifetime hunting buddy!”

I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that, Jason! Congrats to both of you!
