Art, I certainly hope you were kidding concerning your crude remark about one's "crotch". I do not hunt, but I certainly don't begrudge anyone who chooses to participate in this lawful activity their right to do so.

Perhaps you might have noticed how family-oriented this blog appears to be, and the strong family bonds/relationships that are highlighted amongst the hunters. Fathers, daughters, mothers, sons, I see alot of good quality time being spent amongst families. The positive accolades expressed here by both proud relative and stranger alike concerning the youngsters and their lawful accomplishments are inspiring in today's society. I hope it instills a sense of pride, accomplishment, and positive self-esteem amongst the young hunters. Lord knows, in today's world, our young people need positive things in their lives.

I will also note that the hunters I do know are amongst the most responsible environmental stewards I have seen. Their respect for nature is admirable.

Art, I'm confident you likely have some lawful hobby that I also choose not to participate in, but I would never wish physical harm upon you for participating in it. Like I said, hope you were kidding. If you weren't, how boorish.

DB: I just love to hate that feeling. Ive had a couple encounters with deer the past couple year that have left me shaking, speechless and sleepless. One of them actually came to fruition and I harvested the deer (big ole boy!).

There are few things in this world that will ever match up to the mix of feelings/emotion when you got a deer like this up close but can't get a shot and have to watch him walk away.

Its why we hunt! Go get him brother!

mark craziest thing with this Deer, last week of rifle season i got a call from my buddy that his mom (a recent widow) was concerned about a deer in the back yard acting funny and she wanted one of us to bring a rifle and check it out...i got there in a few minutes since I live a half mile away and sure enough he was acting funny but thats only because of the Doe he was bedded down with (clean version of what was taking place) that my good friends mom never saw...lol...so my buddy shows up and his mom lives on a few acres of land, I tell him what I saw we see the deer in the close woods so we went back there to try to get closer to the Deer, at that point of observinfg him i noticed he had a bad limp as others have said however I didnt take my rifle with me since I didnt know the lay of the land all that well, and I figured there were houses too close by anyway to actually be able to use it, I got back a few feet in the woods behind her house and looked up and that deer was less than 10 yards away looking dead at me and my Buddy, I had my pistol pulled it and thought it aitn worth any trouble I may get and holstered back up and left disgusted...not only is he the Biggest buck I have ever seen in the woods,he is one of only 6 that I have seen in the woods period in the 7 years I have hunted, (I have yet to harvest anything other than a spike and some button bucks)...that buck has haunted me regularly in my dreams I am hoping he made it so that I can maybe get a chance with my bow come next OCT, if my buddies Mom will allow me... I gotta get that buck so I can sleep better ...HA Ha ohh and thanks for the flashback that i didnt need either...lol..i going to cry now

thomas -- According to Tommy, this buck was limping when he saw it in early fall, and a co-worker of his had seen it (or one like it) last year that also was limping. So, possibly an old injury.

Also, this deer has mostly been spotted over by the Merriman Road area. Not that it couldn't have been over by Thunder Valley as they do roam.

My guess is that you hit another big urban buck. In the city and many parts of suburban counties, vehicles are the only predator of significance -- which is why these urban bucks get so darn big!
